We’re going out to Kansas City in a few weeks and I thought I would check out the casinos in my spare time. Any stand outs for VP? Do they comp drinks to players?

KC casinos
I live in KC and none of the casinos comp alcohol. They all have free coffee and soda stations in multiple places throughout the casinos. As far a VP goes, payables aren’t that great but I’ve had good luck at Hollywood Casino near the racetrack in KCK. It’s the newest casino and I’d put to on par with, say M Resort in LV or maybe even Aliante. Their players club (Marquee Rewards) is actually the same with M Resort and now Tropicana in LV. The one KC Casino to avoid is Isle of Capri or as locals refer to it - Pile of Debris. Other than that, Harrahs and Ameristar are both decent as is Argosy. My favorite is Hollywood mostly because of nearby food and shopping in the area. All the rest of the casinos are “Riverboat” casinos on the Missouri side of the state line and are kind of remote and next to nothing because, well, they’re literally on the river. It is against Missouri and (I believe) Kansas state law to comp alcohol. We live about 2 hours south of KC and prefer to play at Ameristar casino. It was originally a station casino and was build much in the same fashion as Sunset Station in Henderson. We’ve played at all the casino’s in KC and prefer Ameristar for VP. If you play at the quarter level there are ‘full pay’ machines at the circle bars upstairs. My wife and I generally play multiline nickels at the bars downstairs. There are a few full pay machines in the far corner downstairs that are “Double Royals” which pay $2000 for quarter royals. One reason we stay and play at Ameristar is their hotel rooms. The are pretty nice and Ameristar has become very generous with comping rooms.
We used to play and stay at Harrah’s but the last few times we didn’t feel quite a safe as years past. Also, a few folks we know said that they got bed bugs at Harrah’s.
