Subject: a Question regarding changing machines

.......

Am I missing something?

Could there be ANY justification to switch to a different machine
since the machine upon which one has won certainly has no memory.

Reasons for changing machines (as long as you stay with the same schedules):

1. Sticky buttons
2. Screen out of focus
3. Low "spill" limit necessitating frequent hand-pays
4. Prior customer was a pig who dumped ashes or drinks in hopper
5. Move away from smoke
6. Get a better view of the cocktail waitresses
7. Find a more comfortable chair
8. Machine response too slow
9. Auto-hold on or auto-hold off
10. Because it feels right

Some Other Changes

I average about 6 - 8 days a month in casinos & most of my sessions are
intense in that I'm playing at high speed & often for 8 hrs + in order to get comps
covered first & then hopefully to find some good plays that the locals have
missed. Accuracy degrades the longer and the faster you play. Since long
sessions are akin to long sessions in front of a computer & many of the problems
suffered by players and computer users are similar, I use some of the same
techniques to avoid pain & to try to maintain a high degree of alertness:

1. Change position/machines
2. Look elsewhere, preferably a long focal length, periodically
3. Play standing up, walk around, take a short break
4. Only stimulant I use is caffeine. If you need more than that, you are a
gambler in more ways than one.
5. If none of the above works, take a nap or go to sleep

BTW, if you're a pounder (as I was), expect to get carpal tunnel & suffer.
Once you get your temper under control & learn to play soft, you can look
forward to recovery.
