"just charge everything to the room and we'll take care of it"

that can mean you walk away with a bill of zero or it can mean
nothing comes off the bill. This kind of deal can only lead to
disappointment at checkout - nothing good can come of it because you
are 'expecting' to get your bill comped. As long as you only charge
stuff you were going to charge anyways it's not to bad. But, go to
the fancy restaurant with the thought you're going to get that %40
steak comped...and you'll be setting yourself up for disappointment.

What I've done it tell my host that I'm often disappointed with that
arrangement and only want to use up front comps. I tell them to look
at my play history and tell me what't comped up front. Then, I only
use those. I'm never disappointed and never have to pay $50 for a $10
steak in the steakhouse. Plus, using fewer comps solidifies your
offers for the future.

I will never, ever stay anywhere with that sort of non-promise
again. A couple of years ago, Main Street Station offered that deal -
stay-&-play and we'll look at later. Then they refused to comp
anything at all for my group, despite some rather significant VP and
BJ action. They wouldn't even comp the filthy rooms with the gooey/
sticky tile floors, the mold growing in the bathrooms, and some of
the furniture missing. On the positive side of the experience, the
uppity attitude of the host was almost cartoonish.
