Are there any junkets to Las Vegas from the Northeast ? What about using a travel agent? I am trying to find the cheapest way to make my maiden voyage.
Junkets
I may be mistaken, but I believe the days of junkets from the northeast are gone.
The good news is that there are a whole lot of places you can stay for cheap, cheap, cheap. And all the cheap places will give you free future rooms for minimal play.
Anyplace downtown except the Nugget, Terrible's, Hilton, Sam's Town, Cannery and the Coast casinos would be my choices for you. Beware of Resort Fees at the Station casinos.
Enjoy the Strip for shows, sights, etc. but play off-strip or downtown.

Do not know where in the NE you are, but try SouthWest...particularly mid
week.

If you are going in July or later Southwest may have their June Anniversary sale which last year the most expensive one way airfare was I think $120.00 + taxes... Surprisingly Terribles rooms were not bad and the action required was allot less then the strip for a room... Richard from Ca.

Are there any junkets to Las Vegas from the Northeast ? What about using a travel agent? I am trying to find the cheapest way to make my maiden voyage.

I would suggest looking at the airlines vacation packages with at least air and hotel. It is pretty hard to find lower rates for air and hotel separately. And Southwest's vacation pages are easy to navigate. Going during the off peak days helps immensely also and beware of school vacatin weeks as this bumps up the prices too.

It would be cheaper, the downfall is if you want to get your room comped based on play you wont be able to do that when combing room/air with airline.

Unfortunately air fares are simply higher everywhere.
I follow 2 rules to get the lowest fares:
1. Always buy on Tuesday or Wednesday.
2. Departs and return on those days as well.
If you are near a city with Southwest or Jetblue I would try them. Beware of some cheap flights that require multiple landings and changes of planes. At my age I much rather pay an extra $50 for a direct flight.
