Joker Poker that pays only 500 coins for natural RF?

When I was in Bally's A.C. in June there was a version of Joker Poker
Spin Poker for nickels with a paytable I had never seen. I believe it
paid 500 coins for any straight or royal flush (natural or otherwise)
but paid 4000 coins for a 5 of a kind. It was a 2-pair or better as
opposed to a Kings or better. Does anyone know what I'm talking about
and what the house edge is? I haven't been able to find a paytable
like that in any search of games. I think I saw the same game at one
of the HET casinos in Las Vegas also.

By the way, despite the fact that I had absolutely no clue about
strategy, I still put $20 in while I was at Bally's. I had been
getting killed on full pay Jacks & BP, so as a diversion I decided to
play some clueless nickel Spin Poker. I ended up getting a 5 of a kind
and several multi-line 500 coin hits and cashed out after 45 minutes up
about $250! Just goes to show you how much luck plays a part in the
short run.

Steve

It's actually referred to as Atlantic City Jokers, wildly popular due
to the frequent 4000-coin hits.

Unfortunately, the maximum return is only slightly over 97%. A good
game to avoid.

Don't know about the house edge, but I saw a bunch of these machines at
Harrah's, in Atlantic City. The first time I saw the pay table, I did a
double take. They were the normal 25¢, 50¢, $1 machines.

I even thought about posting a question on that anamolous aspect here.
I think these were 1-2-4-5-8 machines; don't remember exactly.

Let's see, there are a few 4000 coin natural royal games on the AC
Joker paytable, making a natural royal worth 4000 coins makes the game
worth about 98.6%. Three places I know of offer this paytable, all in
different parts of the country: Grand Casino Biloxi and Cannery (LV)
for dollars on a progressive (unfortunately, the royal is progressed),
and Trop in AC, for quarters. I have no idea if GCB is back open again
or its status, but before Katrina, they did offer the game.
