JoB 8/5 versus JoB 9/6 Justification

Happy Holidays to all.........

Trying to think this thru. I have a comp for 3 nights Lodging,
$30.00 in meal credit and $50.00 in coin all for use at Harrah's AK-
Chin casino here in the Phoenix area.....actually 46 miles from the
house one way. Problem is all the .25JoB games at Harrah's are at
least .25 and only a couple...the bulk are $1.00.

I could drive to Laughlin, NV 196 miles each way and stay for 2
nights free at Harrahs. While there are no .25 9/6 JoB games at
Harrahs they are available at many of the other casinos.

Now my question is rather or not the roughly 2% difference in pay out
(If I have figured it right) between the 9/6 and 8.5 games justifies
the added time and expense...$50.00 in gas.....for a recreational
player at the .25 level in making the trip. Would appreciate your
comments please.

Correction to Post. ment to say that the .25 JoB at Harrahs are 8/5
and the bulk of JoB games are 1.00. Sorry for the confusion.

Hi TJ,

How was your trip to Laughlin?

I would recommend learning FPDW. Stay at Harrahs Laughlin and get established at River Palms or Edgewater. Both have lots of FPDW @100.76% in 25c. Both have been giving us lots of offers.

Dennis

I'll take a swing at this one. First of all, I would agree that
learning the FPDW game would be your best move. But, to compare 8/5
JoB to the 9/6 version, consider this:

I'm just going to use rounded numbers. it will explain it clearly
enough. Assuming you are playing for quarters full-coin, with
correct strategy, and will be cruising along at a rather reasonable
700 hands per hour (reasonable for most folks that peruse this
site).
Mathematical probability says that you will average about 8 hands per
hour that will either be a flush or full house. On the 8/5 version,
you will lose $1.25 for each of these. $1.25 times 8 is $10 per hour
in lost credits. If you're playing dollars, just multiply everything
by 4.

Now you can figure out whether it's worth the extra effort to find
the 9/6's.

Hey Dennis...
Thanks for the input. We had a great time at Laughlin over
Thanksgiving. In fact, my wife is responsible with her slot play
for Harrahs inviting us back next month. I followed your advice
that you gave prior to the trip and did most of my playing at the RP
although I also tried the Golden Nugget and the Pioneer. I liked RP
the best by far. Had no difficulty in finding machines at 9/6,
etc. Do you have a host there that you think I should reach out to?
I see in a post earlier today that you were recently at the
Edgewater. Worth a visit or, as a new player, should I just get
established at RP, let my wife do her thing at Harrahs and just rock
back and enjoy......Happy Holidays.

Occasional visitors to Laughlin overlook the Sigma brand games. Upon
last look there was Double Jackpot (99.6%) to play at the quarter
level at the Harrahs.

A couple .50 IGT Jacks still existed too.

My understanding the Harrars buffet is shut down into April, with
some sort of temporary arrangement made to feed the snowbirds.

We use the marketing offers for all of our comps in Laughlin.
RP has some 9/6 JOB slant tops with 5000 coins for the royal in 25c denomination. This gives an ER of 100.07%.
I was surprised at how many offers I got from EW with a couple of afternoons of play. RP is still our main casino.

Smart luck to all in the new year.

And Harrah's is one of two casinos in Laughlin with
small sort of separate non smoking sections. As an ex
pipe smoker, I developed severe allergies to tobacco
smoke. That is worth more than a little to me, btw. As
far as I know, no LAS casino has a non smoking
section. Am I wrong? I am a comp and coupon hustler, I
think I have over 35 player's card to LAS casino, I
have never found a non-smoking section.

Actually, Laughlin is up to three areas that have gone non-smoking.
What is most important is there is playable VP in all three.

1-Harrahs, the whole north casino area is non-smoking including some
table games that open around lunch time. You can play .25 DJ and $1
JB.

2-Riverside, a whole area with table games is non-smoking on the
south end. Once again there is .25 DJ and one $1 JB. The inventory
has taken a hit, just like the rest of the place. You do have to put
up with the smell from the chinese food outlet!

3-Golden Nugget, the newest area, not that segregated but
acceptable. In the southeast corner, by Cheetahs bar, is an area now
non-smoking. You can play .25 DJ and DDJ and some 12/8 LD (20 coin
nickels). Cheetahs bar still smokes but there are .25 and $1 JB to
play, just hope no one else is puffing away.
