Jean, I bought your new book and it arrived a few days ago. I look
forward to reading it. You are someone I admire and I have always
enjoyed your articles in magazines and elsewhere.

Jean, I hope you don't let him upset you.
It's actually comical to read his posts as he constantly has to remind
people that he's "King of the Video Poker World."

I have to agree with this post somewhat. I have never met Jean Scott
or Bob Dancer either, and I have always had nothing but the upmost
respect for both of them. I would rather not see any of the these
people I have always admired so much "cut down" by any of the
others. They are all "experts" in my opinion, and we all have the
choice whether or not to buy or read the books. Of course we also
have the choice whether or not to read these posts too.
If I were an expert, I wouldn't want to try to build myself up, by
tearing someone else down. It only makes one look small.

Bob never seems to realize that he's hurting himself far more than Jean with these comments. "True" kings don't have to toot their horn; everyone knows who they are. Bob's perfectionist tendencies and compulsive behavior aren't an asset in public relations.

But such characteristics don't necessarily condemn one to be an
arrogant boor either. Seems to me that it's largely a matter of
personal choice. In the academic world of my thiry-five years
experience where everyone traipsed about with at least a PhD, many
from extremely prestigious institutions, we had more than our share of
perfectionists, driven compulsives, etc. Only a few were graceless in
social situations. Most were quite charming and witty, quietly
confidant in their capabilities and graciously disarming in their
social demeanor. No need for them to clownishly "toot, toot."
