Jean Scott's unwanted casino gifts

Jean I see in your Frugal column you put that Fabrege bowl and other stuff
in the garage waiting for a home. It is possible you could sell it on Ebay.
Maybe some of the other stuff is sellable, either as is, or if you group a
bunch of items together. Be sure to include postage as a non-optional extra.

For those of you who have attempted this...

...is e-bay REALLY a good way to get rid of unwanted "stuff"?

...or did you find that it was just not worth the hassle?

I think ebay is a great way to get rid of things you no longer want
or us. After the first few times listing an item it becomes very
easy. Most of the time you will not make a lot of money, but for
video poker players who try to maximize EV it seems to make sense. I
always seem to have a lot of items I don't want anymore and if I
don't have anyone I know who wants them I sometimes sell on ebay.
Usually there is somebody elso who wants it and they get a good deal.

I don't ebay, but I do have twice-yearly garage sales where I sell everything and the proceeds
go back into the bankroll. Every April and November, in conjunction with the overall Green
Valley Ranch community garage sale, I set aside whatever is going to be a personal gift and
put the rest out, priced to move. Whatever's leftover goes to Goodwill and I start all over
again. I get rid of all the hats, shirts, bags, everything. At one point, I had 6 velcro-type
Palms wallets that one person bought as little trinkets for visiting family members. Next
garage sale will include a large framed print of cheetahs, I think, that used to hang in the
Reserve. It's probably more work than ebay, but it's been pretty profitable for the last few
years since I started.

My wife takes some of the stuff we get and gives it to charities. They sell it at Chinese auction's and the like, and we get a tax deduction.

Actually I had gotten several items at one casino (they were all the
same) I put them out on ebay and made a nice little profit. But I
sell all different things on ebay when I do spring or fall
cleaning. I never price things high because they are just sitting
in my garage, spare bedroom anyway.
