I may be asking a question here that may not be any of my business, but to achieve 7 star tier status at Harrah's, what kind of VP play does it take, and for how long each day? Are we talking a $5 machine for three hours per day? Just trying to get some idea.

You have to cycle one million dollars through VP during the year.
Harrah's is well known for their lack of full pay pay video poker in all denominations.
I was a 7* member for a couple of years when they first started this tier a few years ago.
Since they reduced or should I say eliminated all decent VP playable games I stopped going to Harrah's and was booted out of the "Club".

Believe me, it is not worth the cost to be a 7* member. I don't want to embarras anyone, but there is an individual who posts regularly on this site who claims he and his wife constantly win Royals or quad aces with a kicker in Atlantic City or Nawlins. Trust me, with the Harrah's pay schedules, this individual and his wife must be putting out some heavy coin to be "winning" that often. This same individual also posts that he and his wife go on a number of Harrah's sponsored cruises for free. With the money he has donated to Harrah's he could have bought himself a small navy.

Anyway, let me climb off the soapbox and end my diatribe with one thing. Harrah's 7* status is not worth attaining today as it was years ago.

Thanks

I was Seven Stars, it was not worth attaining. Leaving aside good vp or bad vp, that is not the test - it is what benefits do you get with 7 Stars over Diamond that warrants putting in 10x as much coin - they were never there. Other than the DIAD program created too many Diamond members.

I was 7 Star for a couple of years,(barely over the 10,000 pt goal, hardly a whale..) received and maximized all of my benefits, plus many extras like additional free rooms for my guests and free show or attraction tickets that were extra from what I was offered. Maybe it was my generous hosts or my charming way of asking......but I wasn't afraid to ask or let them know that I was aware of exactly what benefits I had coming.
I only had one incident at Laughlin/Harrah's where the EXECUTIVE HOST told me I couldn't have a free 1/2 hour massage when it was clearly spelled out as a perk on Harrah's website for 7's, available at any property. She claumed it had to be my "home" property right to my face. For the rest of my stay, she cost Harrah's all of our coin in there. On the other hand, the rest of the casino workers were going out of their way for us, even the maitre'd of the steakhouse who offered to remain open for us when we inquired too late about dinner.
I reaped the rewards when I had the chance but will never be 7 again since Harrah's has cranked down their VP. Also, many 7 stars benefits have been reduced or elimimated.

I actually enjoy The Coach's postings. Look, he's happy, they're happy, he can afford it most likely, there's a lesson to be learned here.

If all VPFree members played 9-6 DDB as their game of choice, we'd all be a lot better off as a discussion forum.

I agree totally, Paladin! I also enjoy reading Coach's TRs, and
hope that he and Hedy finish another year in the black, despite
the ever mounting odds against it.

I find it particularly sad that criticizing the recreational
VP playing habits of other players, may cause them not to post
about their casino adventures, thereby depriving those of us who
enjoy such reports, of being able to read them.

If Coach and Hedy (or ANY other players) are satisfied that the
perks and comps made possible by their heavy coin-in at Harrahs provides them good enough recompense, why should someone else
comment negatively about it?

In 2010, it would be great if we resolved to try to mind our own business, share such VP info that we deem not to be harmful to ourselves or others, and refrain from dissing anyone elses method
of play.

Happy New Year, All!

Amen to both/all of the comments by Paladin and Jackessiebabe. Besides which, I will be forced to have hip replacement surgery soon (true) and have been wondering how long I'll be sidelined from extended VP and poker sessions (also true). I don't know a doctor who could provide an informed answer to that question (ditto). Thanks, Coach.
