Heres a question for this web site
First of all I am losing my emerald status due to the recent changes with the b connected card. Since I travel from the East Coast becoming emerald is not going to happen. I would have to run over 2 million thru the machine to obtain emerald status.( this is playing NSUD and assuming I don’t bail in the middle of a tier count. )
Also I used to get 3x points for each dollar as an emerald player. Now it takes 6 dollars to get this same 3x. And prices have gone up discounts have gone down.

Considering all of this a move is in order to a casino group that treats video poker players with more respect.

So my question is what are the hosts going to do. There will be less players obtaining emerald status and therefore no need for as many hosts. ( Gold Coast had an emerald room with a host present) will they be waiting for onyx and upper level players to ask for perks. Realistically the Gold Coast is not a destination for bigger players that can run millions thru machines.

I only imagine one host left and that one host would most likely be twiddling his or her thumbs . Or will they rename the room the sapphire room.

Has anyone had any experience with station casinos and their comps for free rooms etc.

What is Boyd going to do now that there aren't as many VP players qualifying for higher tier status? Boyd will cater to far more profitable slot players. While Boyd made it virtually impossible to get high tier status playing low edge full pay VP, they made it much easier to get status by playing slots. It now only takes $4500 coin in to make Sapphire via slots versus $25,000 coin-in before the change. So expect to see far more slot players getting those premium benefits. Yes, being Ruby will suck for everyone, but I'd suggest that not all slots have the generic 10% edge that tier scores predict. Earn Sapphire at slots and then play the VP game of your choice. Cruise and vacation offers are a dime a dozen from players clubs. No more tier multipliers means so what if you never get higher than Sapphire or Emerald. I have a friend who is Titanium and he says it's worthless. The "free" trip for 2 to Hawaii requires a stop in Vegas and only includes $500 in airfare. One person can't fly from the midwest to Hawaii with a stop in Vegas on $500

Make Sapphire and then only play on 11x points days. Collect your offers and stiff them the rest of the time or just play enough to keep marketing staff from freaking out and to get the gold RFB comp card.

That's my advice anyway.

Stations has always been stingy on rooms to me. Chairman VP player.

It is my understanding that the hosts haven’t changed their criteria for comps. They are still going to look at your action, theo, and frequency to determine comps.

A. P. is correct, according to my hosts at the California and Main Street Station. I was there this past weekend having visited the Cal and MSS along with the Gold Coast and the M. While I can’t speak for other Boyd locations, both of my hosts were adamant that their ability to offer discretionary comps would be unchanged. Gold and silver FB cards are still in effect.

Things appeared to be business as usual at all three Boyd properties I visited. I saw folks signing up for a new player’s card and no one cashing out their slot points. I’m not a frequent Gold Coast customer so I wouldn’t know if it was more or less busy than usual. At the Cal and MSS, though, I saw nothing that lead me to believe that the new B Connected has impacted their customer patronage - yet. But that’s what you get when you have a high percentage of Asian/Hawaiian clientele - a lot of loyalty.

As for will the hosts be sitting around with nothing to do but twiddle their thumbs? Again, I can’t speak for the Gold Coast but that certainly won’t be the case for hosts at the Cal and MSS. They’ve basically become hotel reservations operators about 2/3 of the time and hosts the other third.

What are Gold and silver FB cards.

They are cards that are issued by the Downtown Boyd property hosts that cover Food and Beverage at all the downtown Boyd properties.

Sam’s Town also offered gold and silver card for F&B at ST as recently as a couple of years ago. I’m not sure if they or any other southern Nevada Boyd properties do today.

Sam’s Town probably still does, but they really devalued them with tight caps a couple of years ago.

Gold Coast, Sun Coast, and Orleans do not, because they were originally Coast properties and never used the card system that the original Boyd properties did.
