i don't really know the details, but if they stumbled upon something that worked i find it hard to see it as a crime...wouldn't they have to be part of a group that knowingly put the flaw in the software?

This is a moral question as I read Jean's column. You find a twenty or a hundred left in the ATM window. Do you keep it or turn it in with the information as to where and when or keep it? Do the right thing or the smart thing as far as monetary gain. I would turn it in because that action makes me feel better.

But this isn't finding a single extra $20 or $100 in the ATM. This is finding an ATM that always pays you $100s when you withdraw $20s and you keep coming back over and over to exploit the mistake. This is clearly theft.

not really....it is playing the double up feature and winning every time...if these guys stumbled up this, it would seem igt should be liable for any loss until they fix their product...

Knowledge is power, if people in Business did not find 'bargains' by those not smart enough to market them, it is the knowledgeable persons game.

Read the complaint. They did far more than just stumble across a machine that had an auto-win double-up feature. In fact, nothing indicates that the double-up was auto-win. Simply switching denominations mid-hand along with a normal double-up option would equal a can't lose situation.
