Jean, dearest, they just don't want to get beat. Ever. Especially on
the Strip where they take the results much more personally than they
should. It's kind of weird, as good as that play was, I was actually
playing even something better somewhere else on that day (although in
not nearly as nice a place at Venetian). I also heard some of the
winners had their accounts restricted as well (although so
Venetianesque of them to tell people they hadn't lost enough to
continue receiving bennies).
If slot directors were as smart as you or I, we wouldn't have the
opportunities that we have, or Dancer wouldn't be consulting. As I'm
fond of saying, the stupidity pendulum swings both ways, but it's rare
that it swings both ways at the same casino in a short period of time.
Paladin's been waiting five years for Sushi Samba to open in Vegas (he
was a regular in South Beach and Chicago), they had a deal with
Bellagio, but it fell through, and it's taken forever to open at
Palazzo. Looks like I'm going to have to wait a little longer, and pay
(yeah, I know, pay for a meal in Vegas, but it is a sign of success,
you know).
