Thanx to everyone who gave me suggestions on what to teach my 2nd graders:
Frugality - I'll try to work that in. And maybe I SHOULD write a children's book on the subject!
Choice of game - JoB was suggested as a starter!!! Actually I don't mention casinos or gambling to the kids, but the teachers all know what I do and bombard me with questions when the kids aren't around. (Their latest question was about "Guarantee Play.")
I do have one student who expertly shuffles the piles of small flashcards just like they are playing cards. Only in Vegas!

Jean your new volunteer activity reminds me of a gentleman that I
played poker with every day in Reno during July/August. He's in his
late 60's I guess, and he's a foster grandparent. He says that he
gets a huge amount of satisfaction from this and the kids look forward
to seeing him several days a week. He'd never done anyting like it
before, and just started a few years ago.
I look forward to buying "Frugal Stories for Girls and Boys" for my
grand kids

frankly, it seems her frugalness is losing the touch...if she was on
top of her game she would realize she could sign up as a sub teacher
and get paid for her work...and you only need to work at least 2 days a
month...
of course it might be a little different being in charge of mob control
as opposed to just helping out a teacher who has that responsibility...
LOL, that totally cracks me up. Kudos to you Jean on your volunteer
work and that Frugal Friday's collumn was a good one. Plenty of folks
here could benefit from it's message of having balance in one's life. M
