Very good article and recommended reading. As a general rule, if you
feel so aggrieved you have to call Gaming, you are burning your
relationship with that particular casino (chain). You really want to
discuss the matter with a slot marketing exec, as Jean points out the
host has no say in the matter.
In a related development, there was this slot marketing guy in AC who
was a thorn in the side of many a video poker player over the years.
Essentially, his deal was to make marketing money while playing slot
operations director. This is pretty wacky because the guy's bonus
check is based on the theoretical win his players generate, not the
actual one, and moreover, the slot operations people feel like they
really don't need any assistance from a marketing guy, at least not in
the way it was presented to them.
The suit was working on his third job in a year, where he had some
sway with upstairs, got a number of players backed off, and had the
theos slashed dramatically, like 1% on 9-6 Jacks, etc. Still, this
wasn't enough. A high roller went on a run, the suit tagged him as an
advantage player, which was a big mistake. The high roller complained
to upstairs, got reinstated and the suit got fired as a result.
Apparently, this was not the first time this happened, but like I
said, the guy was a little wacky and was never popular with his fellow
suits. OK, more than a little wacky.
