Last night Feb 17 at about 10:55PM in the high limit room of the HORSESHOE- Hammond, IN I had the privilege of meeting Jean Scott. I'm being specific so she will know who I am. I said that I almost never post, but sometimes you have to make an exception. Jean was as nice as everyone says.
Jean Scott Sighting
I feel better knowing that Jean and Brad are playing a drawing, like half of Chicago (especially the two multimillionaires who will be playing max coin $1 50-play Super Double and $1 8-5 BP, and have no problem with burning $50K trying to win the 7-series), and the hordes of $25 and $100 reels players. And that's not even counting the other pros who might be (over)playing it. It's like the Palms of the Midwest lol.
That particular drawing was much better back in the day. Still only one winner, but one or two days to earn entries, nobody from Vegas trying to poach the locals action, and the car was in the $50K range.
Hey, considering Jean's track record in AC and NOLA, that will be one less place I have to worry about playing. Jean's presence in a casino is bad for whatever profitable that might be in the casino.
I mean, what happens in Vegas, really should stay in Vegas. I mean, I wonder why there's nothing to play in Vegas anymore. Couldn't be all those books, cheat sheets and computer trainers that people like to hawk on the Net, isn't it? Naah..didn't think so.
I should mention Hammond has by far the nicest 7* lounge in the entire company, by a (as my man, the dearly departed George Kell would say) country mile. Jean could do another book signing there, she can have 100 guests there.
Where's Babe when I need her lol?

Jean or whoever else knows ?
I never considered this before. But for a new 7-series costing 80k+ can one deduct gambling losses against the MSRP for tax purposes ?
(claiming the prize was dependent on play?)
Or must one pay tax on the 80k+ as ordinary income?

Some of the reactions to this post puzzle me.
Take a big step back for a moment.
Jean Scott is willing to:
1) Get on an airplane, which is not the fun it used to be (allow extra hours for getting through security, standing in lines, checking bags, waiting, etc).
2) Fly to Indiana in the middle of winter (which is far worse weather-wise than when I come to hellish Vegas in August for a promotion, since you can get snowed in).
3) And then, gamble her own money to compete with (as you say) a large Chicago-based pool of well-financed players.
If any of you is willing to go to all that trouble to take a chance, then I say more power to you. The best overall opportunities at a given time are not always the most convenient. For those willing to go to that much effort I hope luck is on your side.

Why does anyone care whether Jean S went to Horseshoe in Hammond? No one
knows the reason for her being there except for Jean and Brad. Even if they
went for the drawing what's the big deal. The poster obviously enjoyed
meeting and talking with her.
