Just returned from Guatemala City. On the last day of
our visit, we discovered that our hotel, Weston, and
the Holiday Inn both had casinos. The Weston casino
had some slot machines, but about 100 Jacks or Better,
full pay machines. Playing just one coin the royal
flush was 500.
The only problem was the machine itself. There were
no instructions and there were 11 or 12 different keys
to press. I lost 30 coins, before a kind gentlemen,
who spoke no English, was able to show me which ones
to press to deal, draw, hold, bet, or double down
(high/low). I had tried asking the slot technician and
the manager, but their English was almost non existent
and I do not speak Spanish.
I started playing with 100 units of Guatemalan money,
one coin at a time. After 2 hours, I was up 50 units
and had gotten 5 quads, much to the amazement of the
man who originally helped me and myself. All and all
it was a fun evening.
