Jackpot Tipping?

My son won $2000 playing DDBP last night on a quad aces/kicker. It was
a hand pay, W2, etc. What tip, if any, is considered appropriate for
the slot person?

From the vpFREE FAQ:
The median tip for hand paid jackpots
- $250 : $2
- $1,000 : $10
- $4,000 : $20
- $20,000 : $75
There was recently a discussion about this in which anything from
zilch to $100 would have probably been given for an answer.
Personally, I give $5 to the person paying me and $5 to the cocktail
waitress or bartender on a $1000 handpay.

The answer, for tipping, is always what feels right for YOU!

(My opinion)

In my opinion, if there is an accepted "schedule" for tipping, it no longer is a
"tip", but a "fee".

With a nice smile, of course!

Tipping for jackpots is not considered "mandatory", like tipping at
restaurants and for comp drink service. I'm not the sort of person who
tips people for giving me money that I'm owed anyway. However, some
people INSIST on giving a huge tip (probably the same people who won't
give $1 to a street musician).

My recommendation is that an appropriate tip for GOOD (not average)
jackpot service is the greater of:
A. 1% of the jackpot (in this case $20)
B. The value of any complimentaries recieved in conjunction with the
jackpot. While casinos are not as generous as they used to be, some
casinos will give free meals, T-shirts or hotel stays to jackpot
winners.

I hope this helps. Replies appreciated.

I sparked conversation on this very subject about a month ago here.

Check the 'Messages'archive and/or look up the subject "Should it
bother me?" I recieved many useful responses that have since
formulated my personal tipping policy. I only tip food and beverage
servers. Slot personnel ONLY if they went above the call of duty.
Simply bringing my winnings does not qualify as going above and
beyond. There are exceptions I think, rare monster jackpots
such as sequen. royals, dealt TP royals, megabucks ect. Of course
its
totally up to you. But please dont feel obligated or even subtly
bullied (believe me, at least twice on a w-2 payout the floorpeople
were visibly irate, even though one time it cost me 1100$ to hit a
1450
$ NSU TP progr.)In any event, congrats to your son! It must have
been
a thrill cathching those Aces. I hope its didnt cost to much,
beleive
me Ive been stuck 700$ on QUARTER 10/6 DDBP before hitting a pyrrhic
Aces w/kicker!

Why are these "different", for tipping purposes?
