Isle of Capri-Kansas City Update

Unfortunately it looks like the 10 quarter full pay PKM machines are being replaced with the 10K royal short pay version. The full pay machines were pulled off the floor as of last night.

Once the new machines are in place I'll report back with the exact paytable.

I checked the new machines last night and here is what I found:

There are now 13 of the fancy new Gamemaker upright machines in the VP area to the left of the cage (seven against the wall and six in a circular formation right next to the seven). They have a number of games at nickle, quarter and dollar demons, although different offerings depending on the demom. Pick'em is offered in all three denoms. The quarter version has been changed from the full pay 99.95% paytable to the 96.2% paytable, taking it from the best VP in the casino to nearly the worst. The nickle version uses this same paytable.

The news for dollar players is better. All 13 machines offer full pay JOB (9/6) and almost full pay Pick'em. (1,195 for the SF vs. 1,199 for the true full pay version) With cashback, that makes dollar Pick'em about a break even play. However if you are hoping to play break even and clean up on comps, good luck. There is no hotel and they've closed down the Farraday's restaurant. That leaves you with the buffet, which is bad on most nights and passable on crab and shrimp night. If you've been there, you know this is not a glamorous casino. The attraction for VP players was the quarter full pay Pick'em, not the amenities.

A better option for quarter players is to play the dollar Pick'em offering short pay one coin. That makes it a 98.95% game, which is a full percent worse than you were getting with full pay quarters, but significantly better than the 96.2% return on the new quarter pay table.

Unfortunately, with the loss of quarter All American earlier this year and now Pick'Em, IOC-KC has gone from offering one of the best quarter VP inventories in the country to one of the worst.

One small correction, no version of PKM is available at the nickle level. These machines used to have it, but apparently it went away with the latest changes.
