No, casinos haven't taken away "all the perks for the high roller video poker player". Apparently you have chosen to stop playing so the casino offers have dried up.
However, the tourism/gaming industry has been one of the hardest hit by the recession. Department heads are under pressure to cut expenses/increase revenues or else risk losing their own jobs.
As a Las Vegas local I'd say on average my casino benefits have been cut in half and I'm now playing at about half the EV per hour I was a year ago. Consequently, I'm playing less.
