Hi All,
I joined this group and wondered if there is anything good to say
about Argosy?
My husband and I will be coming to Riverside over the Memorial Day
Weekend and will be staying at the motel across the street from
Argosy.
We went there in February and the casino was so crowded and hard to
find machines to play!I do play VP games and some slots.
I have tried to teach myself the correct way to play Jacks or Better
using the Bob Dancer Winpoker Cd. I have also, tried to read up on
some of the slot games .
I lived in KC all of my life until 1999. I now live in the sticks,
but love it!
I have in the past played at all four casinos. I played at the
Station before it became Ameristar. I never won anything anywhere.
But I think I am a little better prepared to play now than I use to
be.
And in my mind LUCK is the most important factor and skill next.
is there anything good to say about Argosy?
How about, "It's only 10 minutes away from Harrah's"?
OK, I'm being a little bit facetious. The new Argosy is a beautiful casino, and the restaurants are getting pretty good reviews.
However, with respect to the VP, there simply isn't anything I know of above around 98.5% payback.
There's one possible way you can play at the KC Argosy with an advantage. They might still be running a promotion where you get 5x points all day long if you give them your email address. At 5x points, the highest paying games in the house will be over 99%.

there.

LOL. This is EXACTLY what I was going to respond with!

I stopped in yesterday and can confirm this promotion is still
running. I can also confirm that it's a VP wasteland. Beautiful
casino, ugly VP.
I'd call Harrahs and ask to speak to Nancy Johnson, casino host. She
is wonderful. It's very possible she'll book you a comp room. On my
first visit last year to Harrahs KC, she comped me up front.

Thanks for your help. I am glad to know that the 5x promotion is
still going on. I will keep the casino hosts name written down for
future use. We have some of our family also, staying at Super8 , so
we don't want to change hotel reservations.
Thanks again,
Pat

You won't find any full pay VP machines in Argosy, however, the new facility is very nice. Expect very large crowds over the holiday weekend in all four KC casinos. Due to its size, however, Ameristar can best handle the crowds.
You are correct, for the short term, single trip, luck is better than skill. Unfortunately, you can't control luck but you can control skill. If you are not a long term, advantage player I wouldn't worry about short pay machines in the Argosy. Go, have fun, and maybe Lady Luck will smile on you.
