Is Free Parkng Perk Like Money ?

Howdy

As another loosing gaming year draws to a close, I am looking for things to help ease my pain. (Oh the agony of defeat.) Can I consider the amount I saved on parking which is five dollars a pop and over 1k in total for the year a deductible from my losses?

HAPPY HOLIDAY EVERYONE.

Hi, I'm new and trying to learn all things VP, so don't take this the
wrong way, but how do you lose after playing VP for an entire year?
Don't you go into the game having a pretty good indication what you
edge is when factoring in the casino promotions. Did you play any
games under 100%? How many hands did you see?

Thanks,
I hope 2009 brings better luck.

It is very easy when you start playing video poker and hear about all the wins to think that a video poker machine is an ATM. All you have to do is sit down and start playing and money will flow out. What you do not hear about are the losses generally.

It is very easy to have a loss for the following reasons:

1. A substantial amount of the payout is held in the royal (or top two payouts). If you are under-royaled, you most probably will have a loss.

2. Margins are very slim these days. Even if a game is positive, most times the margin is .5% or less. Here again, no royals and you take a beating.

3. Long-term payback is based on absolutely perfect play. Any mistake whether minor or not reduces the long-term return and with the slim margin of profit can easily erase any potential profit.

Playing video poker for a profit is tougher than it looks these days.

9/6 Jacks or Better is 99.54 % . Here in ATlantic City it is next to impossible to find a game that has a player advantage. The perks at the Borgata are on the low end of the Totem Pole when it comes to cash or slot dollars. There is no guarantee you will realize? a winning year or loosing year no matter what the house odds including any casino bonuses. However over the long haul which is many many many hands there is a good chance you will be pretty close to the predicted outcome.

I played about 350000 hand in 2008.

Sure, as long as you keep in mind that the "predicted outcome" is a
distribution of possible results, not an average result. If you were
playing 9/6 with 1% cashback and a 0.1% error rate, your N0 would be
19.5/(-.5%-.1%+1%)^2 = 1.2 million hands, meaning at that many hands
your chances of being a winner are about 84%. With less cashback or a
higher error rate or less hands, your results would be less favorable,
as you found out.
