IRS mistaken W2 problem

You don't know the IRS. The IRS relies on the information they are given.
If the casino made a mistake, they have to correct the information they sent
the IRS. The IRS has no way of knowing if your friend was in the casino at
the time or should have received the W-2G. He should try to get in touch with
the casino and ask for a copy of the W-2G. He can try to argue with them
but I think he has a problem.
