I recollect reading an IRS issued memo or letter regarding use of the session method for reporting wins and losses.

I've never played fewer than the full-play 9 lines. But I've been asked a question about playing just 3 lines. This person says that if you play 3 lines, the machines has you play just the top, middle, and bottom straight across, no lines intersecting, and therefore no chance to get multiple royals, quads, etc.on a draw (you could if you were dealt them) since you are still playing just out of one deck. Seems like this lower the EV considerably, right or wrong???

I don't see why the EV would be affected. Variance would be lower due to the negative correlation of the different lines, but every line would have the same EV as if it were a single line machine.

the EV is unaffected. the variance is very slightly lowered compared
to normal triple play.

suppose you draw to Ad Kd Jd Td. you have no chance to hit multiple
royals by drawing the Qd on two or three lines. but you also have no
chance to miss on multiple lines by drawing, say, the 5s on two or
three of them. your chances of hitting exactly one royal are slightly
increased.

I once had a big Spin Poker play at the Hotel Nevada in Ely (pronounced E-lee, don't tick off the locals). It's a fun game and I applaud the designer(s). It's a perfectly symmetrical game and there are some interesting aspects. Here are a few things I remember:

You can make either a 1-way, 2-way, 3-way, 5-way, or 9-way Royal. The only way to make the 9-way is to flop the Royal.

Position counts in Spin Poker. The only way to make the 5-way is to be dealt a 4-Card Royal with the discard being in the third position. Then you have to catch the 5th Royal Card on the center line.

When holding two Royal Cards, the only way you can make a THREE WAY ROYAL, is the two Royal Cards have to be in the 2nd and 4th positions, then you have to catch the other three royal cards straight across the center line.

When holding only one Royal Card, no matter what position, the most you can make on the draw is one Royal.
