Do the casinos get upset if someone was to use an iPad in a casino? I do not mean for an extended amount of time. This would be just for a few minutes to check a document on the iPad?
Does anyone know?

Laughlin Aquarius has free wi-fi at their Starbucks. The signal reaches FPDB $1 vp machines. Very convenient. I used to bring my netbook; catching up on stuff at the machine but not while gambling although wife is sitting next to me; going turbo speed; calling to my attention good deals/draws every so often. Such fun. Ready to go back.
Maybe I was soooo obvious; or they checked with host or something. That was a couple of years ago. I wouldn't do it anymore. Previous discussions on this board - to have the machine held and do your "check a document" out of the casino. Keep a low profile.

If I had to guess, I would say that they would mind only if you were using it while playing a machine at the same time - in other words, using an app that tells you what cards to hold (yes, they do exist - I won't mention what they are, in case there's some "no shilling stuff" rule I would be breaking).

Had one last year that never left my sight during the two weeks I was there; referenced it many times on different casino floors with no problems (was primarily checking for free wifi and a few notes I had on my machine.
Next month will be there with the same iPad; will access notes, locations of positive play machines; guess I could have scanned copies of strategy cards on there to look at, but I will have the originals on hand and in plain sight, so that doesn't make much sense.
Would agree with you if you used it as a "computing device", as defined by Nevada gaming statutes (a variation of this question that Bob Dancer's already committed to discussing next Thursday, I believe); or if you used something like "FaceTime" or the video cameras inside the casino. Of course, there are boatloads of iphones out there, which function almost the same as iPads, and could do even more damage at a blackjack table (rumors ONLY of which I have heard).
BUT if I should get so lucky that I hit a big hand next month, I will snap away and share with on whatever devices I have, just like last year, and would not expect a problem; else I would willing to be a test case!!
