I believe it's only a misdemeanor in Nevada. As far as I know, Washington is
the only state that makes poker a felony.

Wow.
Does anyone else think it's a bit silly for government to tell people that
they aren't allowed to gamble with their own money, either on the Internet
or elsewhere?
Also, if Internet gambling is expressly prohibited in so many states, then
how are there so many online players from those states, NV included?
Finally, does anyone know of a time when these laws have been enforced? If
online gambling is illegal in so many places, then the LVPD should do a
sweep at the WSOP and arrest just about everyone in there wearing swag from
an online poker site!!
These laws can be summed up in one word...LAME!!
I think they should also be unconstitutional.

I can tell you that people living in other countries such as England
find it very silly that we would have such rules, especially since
this is supposed to be the land of the free. (Based on postings at
other discussion groups like the Blackjack Page.)

Such a rash action might just be what it takes to wake up the
general public and make them aware of the absurdity of these laws -
so it'll probably never happen.

Reading through the list, it's incredible that a number of states
still have laws against social gambling (although I'm sure rarely
enforced). I can just picture the cops going around to all the local
area golf clubs and busting the Saturday morning skins games.
