My interesting TITO story...
I was playing at NYNY at the old 3 play NSUD. I had just finished a
session around even and hit cash out. My credit balance was a few
hundred. I gather my belongings (cell phone, dollar bills for tips,
etc...) and the machine does the usual beeping so that you don't
forget to take the ticket. I reach for the ticket and start to get up
to leave. The screen says 'Paid $xxx.xx'. I glance at my ticket and
its blank. I mean, completely blank. Ummm....I figure 'no bog
deal'... there was a machine malfunction so I walk over to the change
booth (10 feet from the machine) and tell the attendant. She calls a
floor attendant over who immediately tells me, "Your not getting paid
with that" With that remark I got a look from her that told me she
though I was trying to pull a scam. I told her that is what the
machine gave me. She says "Sorry, you're not getting any money for
that". I tell her to walk over and look at the machine. We walk over
and I tell her I did NOT get paid $xxx.xx like the screen says. She
opens the machine and the machine concurs that I was paid. Once
again, I tell her that the machine gave me a blank piece of paper.
She looks at me with the "I'm not buying your scam" look again. I
tell her to look at the printer paper (that's what I called it...I
don't know what it is actually called). She opens it up and its empty.
Long story short. She replaces the paper and I get a new, correct
ticket printed.
Great customer service.
Also, I kept thinking...
1) Has this not happened before?
2) If a guest has a blank ticket in their hand and they point to a
machine, don't you check the 'printer paper" first?
She made me feel like a criminal for getting my own money back.
If the sun can turn it black, the tickets are probably made from a
similar type of thermal paper that low-cost fax machines use.

I think it's actually marked on the ticket (or I sort of remember
seeing it
