I was just listening to the BBC business daily radio show, and they were talking about the tough times Vegas is going through.
Gary Loveman of Harrah's said that in response to the times, Harrah's is trying to make sure their best customers can continue to enjoy their visit to Vegas. Even if they make only 1 trip instead of three this year, they are offering more & better service and more marketing/promotions to their best customers. I'm sure we're all glad to hear that news. (I guess the offers are in the mail)
An official of MGM Grand (perhaps John Redmond - it is after all almost 2AM here in the East) told all about the tough times he's gone through this year. His hair turned gray, and all his banker buddies got fired, and he had such a tough time getting the financing for the 60 story project MGM is building. (Almost had me in tears, folks). But he also indicated that he feels that the typical customer was no longer a gambler who went to Vegas on a vacation. It was now a vacationer who might also do some gambling.
Anyhow, just thought I'd share what I heard.
