According to the Gaming Today article, "...IGT unveiled the
industry’s first wide-area progressive for video poker..."
This statement is incorrect.
In 1996 Shuffle Master & IGT introduced "Five-Deck Frenzy."
This game used IGT's MegaJackpot wide-area progressive
system, which offered a progressive jackpot starting at
$200,000 (for getting five aces of spades).

Interesting. As added info, IGT continues to offer a 5-Ace wide-area progressive in NJ (AC) on 3-play and spinpoker JW machines. The IGT website indicates that there are no longer any wide-area vp jackpots in NV.
Nothing new... AC had Pokermania for years. The concept was an extremely poor paying VP game but with a mega jackpot. Needless to say, the idea eventually flopped , as even the dumbest ploppies know its time to quit when you have 10 / 20 losing sessions in a row on a top heavy VP game. I imagine similar here... Will I be happy playing 6/5 bonus poker super times pay, replacing the previous 8/5 version...uhhh...NO THANKS !
