Kelly bet.

Estimated Kelly bet is bankroll times advantage divided by variance.
It changes as your bankroll goes up (hopefully) or down (possible).
"Keeping it real" is useful, as it should be obvious that it is
probably impossible to find a bet of say $1.25466..., but a round down
bet of $1.25 is possible, etc. There is nothing wrong with betting
less than Kelly optimal, even substantially less than Kelly optimal,
in fact that practice reduces risk, however betting more than Kelly
optimal is asking for trouble (increased risk and less bankroll
growth, remember "Bear Stearns"?).

I realize this is about discipline and commitment to winning

Any words of wisdom out there? Would love to hear from both
recreational and professional players - how do you manage your bankroll?
Many thanks.
