Interested in Info on Harrah's in Hammond IN

We're Michigan residents who have lost our almost full-pay pick-em poker in Windsor, and are now looking for an alternative Harrah's property with almost full-pay video poker, complemented by multi-points or cash back, to bring it up to full-pay status.

Can anyone give us information on Harrah's casino in Hammond IN. Is the database on vpfree up-to-date on the full pay machines for this casino? Where would you recommend booking hotel reservations? Does anyone know of up-coming multi-point days? Do we have to get a mailer to be invited to multi-point days, or is it for everyone? Does it apply to video poker?

Thanks for any feedback that you might be able to provide.

Some of the information in the database is accurate. Some isn't. There's
no upstairs in the new boat. The high limit area has gone through some
constant tweaking. But there is some $5 10/6 DDB. In general, the video
poker is pretty decent at all levels. There is a $1 RF progressive on the
Game Kings in the back that moves pretty fast and hits often. They also
keep tweaking that area so it could be anywhere from 8 to 30 machines
contributing at any point. I can't speak to Pick-em. But I do believe
it's there next to the poker room.

Hammond does not have a hotel. Ameristar is just down the highway about two
exits and has a nice hotel. Getting comp'd a room there isn't too tough.
They also have a great $1 DDB progressive that often gets into some awesome
EV territory without adding any of the comps or multipliers. Ameristar is
pretty generous with their point multipliers. Hammond Horseshoe has gone to
the "This machine not part of promotions" for almost all video poker.

Personally, I like playing at Hammond more and like the constant comps of
their great concert schedule and being closest to Chicago (20min fast and
easy drive non-rush hour). But you might find that playing at both casinos
on your first trip will get you the free trips and offers flowing that you
want for repeat visits depending on the type of comps you're looking for.

Concert, Food, Diamond and Seven Stars Lounges: Hammond
Multipliers, Hotels, and More Flexible Bounce Back Cash: Ameristar

Note that in any Indiana location they are going to take the mandatory state
tax of 3.4% of any $1200+ win. It's not an option like in MI.

Harrah's Joliet is another 35-50 mins past on 80/94 and now smoke free.
They have a nice hotel and decent food as well. Again, VP multipliers are
pretty much toast and there's one bank of $1 game king machines that is
almost impossible to find a seat at. The drive is long and boring and bit
of a pain, but that might also get your lodging covered for a look-see.
