FWIW, If a hospital in the US turns you away because
you don't have some form of insurance on you, they
will be in some serious legal trouble. I have gone
through phases where I did not have health insurance
and needed medical attention. The various places were
happy to work out a payment schedule when the bill
came and I was not able to pay the full amount
immediately.
