Insurance for Car rental in Las Vegas

As a city dweller who doesn't own a car, it was necessary for me to
provide a notarized statement when I was hit while at a standstill on
the expressway a couple of years ago. In that case, the card's
insurer covered all of the $12K+ in damaages.

I too have the problem of no auto insurance because My employment provides
me with a car and insurance while I drive their car either for business or
pleasure. When I rent a car for pleasure I'm concerned about the liability
insurance that may be provided by the credit card company. My net worth could
stand the cost of replacing the rental vehicle but the liability issue is a
different situation. Do I understand correctly that if my credit card provides
PRIMARY coverage that I would be covered for both collision and liability with a
personal rental on that card?

To my knowledge, there are no credit cards that provide liability
coverage (certainly it's not the standard VI/MC benefit).

Without your own auto insurance, unless you have a homeowners policy
with extended coverage that includes appropriate liability, you should
give serious consideration to accepting the rental agency's liability
coverage ($10+/day). If you rent frequently, the alternative you may
wish to consider is a non-owners auto liability insurance policy.
Premiums are generally cited as being around $300.
