Installing VP software

Hi again

Thanks to all who posted advise to help with my software installation problems. I post this information to help anyone else who is having troubles.

Althought I have not yet succeeded, here is what I have learned and tried.

Jean Scott responded with a suggestion posted by Steve M.

I copied files for both Frugal Vp and Winpoker between my old and new computer and tried to run the .exe file. My computer ( a Dell Insperon running in 64 bit mode )noted that these were shortcuts. My later tries at copying non shortcuts were unsuccessful no doubt due to my lack of computer skills with directories and file searches.

I also copied the files directly from my original disks onto my insperon and attempted to run the .exe file. The computer again noted that my 64 bit system and the file were incompatible.

Dan Paymar responded that his program will run on 64 bit systems with Vista. I am not sure if it will run when Windows 7 comes out because I failed to ask that question.

Bob Dancer responded that VP for Winners runs both on a 64 bit platform as well as with both Vista and Windows 7.

I am certainly open to more suggestions on how better to copy the correct files between computers. Failing that I will be buying a new program.

Again, thanks to ALL of you who wrote to help.

Jay

I have an HP running 64 bit Vista and can confirm that V.P. for Winners runs ok. But Frugal V.P. seems to be a no go.

I might be able to help you Winpoker. When my computer crashed, I couldn't locate the backup disk that I ordered initially, so I had no way of putting it on my new machine. I emailed the Winpoker people (zamzow) or something like that. She checked the database through my email and had me download the trial version, and then directed me to a site to upgrade it to the full version. Very nice and helpful people.

_ I am running Windows 7 Ultimate 64 bit on one of my computers. When I
tried to install FVP from the disc it would not install. I copied the
complete set of BDPW and FVP files from my other drive to Win7. They both
run fine.

This is good news for me as I lost the original disk that I bought from Jean at Harrah's AC. I bought a new computer and I thought I would not be able to use the program which I like very much.
