Indian Casinos in Oregon

Do they have random VP or is it all on Class 2 machines?

Jean,

All you need do is Google "Oregon Native casino". The first listing describes the 3 casinos. The first one references craps, blackjack, etc. so Oregon is a Class III state. If you need to verify you should call one of them.

Only Washington State is a Class III with New York-style VLT's in native casinos.

There are more than 3 casinos in Oregon, and yes, they have real
random VP (at least, as far as I can tell).

We have 9 Oregon casinos listed on our web site and it's likely there
are others since ours is focused on RV Friendly casinos.

Oregon also has legal video poker in the bars. Back in the late
eighties a friend bought a tavern in Canby, Oregon. He had a couple
of VP machines for "amusement only." But there was gambling going on
under the table. It was some sort of secret deal going on around
Oregon.

I heard later that the legislature finally legalized it. I guess
they wanted their cut. You know how politicians are about "cash
cows."

Going through Portland a couple of years ago I seen a few in a bar
and went over the payscales. They were oddball payscales and looked
to be about 94% or so.

If I remember right I was told the max return in bars like this is 92%.
Of course, my memory isn't always that reliable

Dick

92% is close enough for me. I just eyeballed the payscales and it
was easy to tell they were inferior.

Jason, are you saying you're only allowed to win $600 or less in a
single jackpot in a Oregon casino? If I understand you correctly
that's not accurate (at least in the casinos I've personally
visited). VP at 25c pays $1000 for RF, and at $1 pays $4000.

I think he was referring to the bar video poker, not the Indian
Casinos.

And maybe I don't know this. I work for IGT game design, and I recently had
to do a slot machine for the Oregon Lottery. I was constrained to the 92%
limitation and the $600/pull. This may be a slot-only restriction, and video
poker could be completely different. So I guess I was just speculating.

Jason, that would explain it. I've never played in Oregon except at
an Indian casino.

It sounds like the state works under one regulation that allows
certain types of gaming, and a different set of rules apply to Indian
casinos. In general that's common, but most states don't allow slots
except in the Indian casinos, which makes Oregon somewhat unique.

I learn something new on this forum every day
