Increased "Coin-In" on some VP at Atlantic City HET properties

Earlier this month there were 2 threads of posts (on acvpp) that
really piqued my interest. One - message #29767; started 2/9/09 ("At
some Bally's machines $20 through to get 1 tier point) and the
other - message #29803; begun on 2/14/09 ("Credit Meter Rates on
Ballys VP?) Besides the idea that Bally's had machines that now
had "costlier" tier points, I was surprised that no one who was
aware of these machines went to the source to find out why - other
than the stickers placed on the machines - this wasn't being
advertised. So even though I almost never play at Bally's, I decided
to see if I could get any kind of clarification from HARRAH'S/TOTAL
REWARDS.

Below is an exchange of 4 messages between myself & T.R. Customer
Service. (By the way, this is the second time that I've sent a
message via the email inquiry function on the TR FAQs page and not
had it go through. So remember, if it's really important - copy &
paste the text of your question somewhere that you can retrieve it
later so you can re-send it if necessary). The thing that is most
interesting to me is that the increased "coin-in" requirement has
apparently been instituted at all 4 A.C. Casinos. As I'm primarily
a quarter player, I'n not surprised that I've not noticed this
change as it's probably on somewhat higher, multi-line games.
Anyone have any idea where the other "higher cost" machines are?

Your Question 02/21/2009 12:27 PM
Below is a copy of a question I submitted via email on February 14,
2009. To date (02/21/09) I have not received any reply, nor did I
receive any automated message showing the orginal email had been
received.
(ORIGINAL QUESTION from 02/14/09)
Following is the information provided by HARRAH's website regarding
how Reward Credits are earned:
"To earn Reward Credits, use your Total Rewards card the entire time
you play at any Total Rewards location. You will earn 1 Tier Credit
for each $5 you play on reel machines and $10 for video poker. Bonus
Reward Credits are extra comps that may be awarded determined by
your play throughout the day and are based on type of game, length
of play and average bet. Watch the reader on the machine to see your
Credits adding up."
However, there are some video poker machines at Bally's in Atlantic
City that require $20 coin-in to earn 1 Reward Credit. The countdown
meters reflect this change, and there are stickers affixed to the
machines that indicate this.
Is this a singular instance of change in the Total Rewards program?
If not, and this practice is being employed at other HET locations,
will the "on-line" Total Rewards information be adjusted to reflect
the fact that, in some cases, certain machines may require a larger
amount of coin-in to earn Reward Credits? Thank you for responding
to my inquiry.

Dear NEIL,
Thank you for reaching out to us.
Please know this is the first email Customer Relations has received
from you regarding this matter. Our Harrah's Atlantic City
properties have recently converted some of the machines to a $20
activity for each tier point. Please know the online wording is
currently being reviewed. This information may or may not advertise
online. However, each and every machine that is 20:1 has a sign on
the machine itself, so there is no confusion. We hope this
information proves helpful to you.
We appreciate your inquiry and look forward to serving you soon.

Your Question 02/23/2009 12:58 PM
Dear Yvonne, I take it from your answer that this practice currently
is only taking place in Atlantic City. In your response to my
original question you state: "Our Harrah's Atlantic City properties
have recently converted some of the machines to a $20 activity for
each tier point." Your language (using the plural - properties)
would seem to indicate that this has been done at more than one of
the Atlantic City facilities. Are you able to tell me which other
Harrah's Atlantic City casinos now have video poker machines
requiring $20 coin-in for 1 Tier Point? Again, thank you for your
time.

Answer 02/23/2009 2:39 PM
Dear NEIL,
Thank you for replying.
The four Harrah's Atlantic City properties that have converted some
of the machines to a $20 coin- in for 1 tier point are Harrah's,
Caesars and Showboat
Thank you!

P.S. I'm not going to cross-post this onto the HARRAH'S group or
vpFREE, although I'm going to send it privately to the moderator of
vpFREE to do with as they choose.
