In the red at The Mirage

Be very careful when accepting mailed offers from The Mirage,
they definitely come out of your comp account. I accepted the Bountiful
Beauty offer which included 3 nights in a tower suite and a $175 food
credit. I really accepted the offer for some friends from work who were
coming to town at the same time and I only took the room for 2 nights.
(I chose to stay at Caesars Palace because booking a room was necessary
to cash a $100 bounce back check.) Anyway the room came with a limo from
the airport and I knew my friends would enjoy it. During my stay I
earned $795 in cashback over three days of play which would amount to
just under $240K for video poker. First I decided to ask a host about an
airfare comp because I had scored that on my previous trip with similar
action. The host said that would not be possible after reviewing my
account and after making some mention of my having been in a suite this
trip and being overcomped. He was somewhat unfriendly but that is pretty
common for hosts at The Mirage. I was not really upset because I know
airfare is about the hardest comp to bag and I only bat about 50-50 at
it. Well I played a couple of hours longer in high limits and was getting
a pretty bad sugar high from the Rice Krispie Squares and large variety
of chocolate covered fruits they serve in there (has anyone else ever
heard of chocolate covered pineapple?) and decided I had better get some
real food. I go up to the slot booth and ask for a buffet for one. The
boothling tells me "Sorry, sir but you are in the red in your comp
account." After $240K in action and I can't even get a $15 buffet? I
wonder how much they charged me for the room and $175 in food. In the
future I guess I will ask my host to downgrade my offers to a standard
room. I would much rather have the comp dollars for food or real cash
for airfare. Do they ever have a comp abuser amnesty day?

If you could win all the time it wouldn't be gambling, it would only be a
job.
