immune from UP noise?

This subject hasn't come up much in this forum and I'm a little
surprised by the lack of comments (only one poster mentioned this
recently in connection with Fitzgeralds). I tend to play vp full
throttle for most of the day, but when it's time to retire I need a
good nite's sleep without waking so that I'm good to go the next day.
For some of my non-vp Reno visits of years past I've stayed at
extremes of the spectrum regarding UP train noise, the Sands which is
horrible because it borders the UP tracks, and Circus-Circus which was
quite good because of its northernmost Virginia St. location and the
fact that my room faced north. Which of the primary vp hotels (Silver
Legacy, Peppermill, Atlantis) have the quietest rooms? I don't want to
jump to conclusions from their proximity to the UP tracks as some
hotels have rooms with superb sound isolation whereas others have
rooms with none at all.

My experiences are:
Circus-circus: Regular rooms from el-cheapo-flight & room deals
(before I discovered the wonderful world of comped rooms) Noisy
hallways, thin walls, cheap "feel" to the rooms. mediocre-to-poor
VP. Way too many kids- hotel tends to court families.

Silver Legacy: regular rooms, can be noisy from air conditioning
vents. Yes, if you are a light sleeper you can hear the trains when
your room faces the tracks. suites are quieter, but you can still
hear the rooms above and beside you when they turn on their jacuzzi
water full tilt at 2AM. otherwise, no hallway noise and not a lot of
wild room parties. I've had housekeeping wake me up more than once:
they ignore the DO NOT DISTURB sign for some reason. Impossible to
sleep past about noon without housekeeping knocking, calling out or
even breaking in. Air conditioning vents can be loud. Great VP.

Peppermill: perhaps the quietest rooms, never bothered by
housekeeping nor train noise, not many room parties going on. the
regular rooms are smallish. The suites have that noise from neighbors
filling their jacuzzis. Fine VP, but downgrading paytables due to new
Oceano restaurant opening.

Bottom line: I always wear earplugs to assure uninterrupted sleep.

Amazing how good we become so adept at filtering out noise on the
casino floor, but you can hear every little noise when you're trying
to go to sleep.

Peppermill is very quiet. Ditto Atlantis except some of their oldest
rooms have window A/C, which are a little noisy. I'll be staying at
SL next month for the first time. I will be sure to ask for a room
facing away from the tracks. The UP noise will be a moot point in a
couple of years when the track project is finished

Are there any rooms at the Sands that don't face the tracks?

The tower in the northeast corner of their property has rooms that
face west or east. A room next to the north stairwell in this tower is
about as far removed from the tracks as you can get. Unfortunately
that isn't good enough. I was not a vp player during my Sands &
Circus-Circus stays and since they have no vp offerings I have no
plans to stay there again.

Yes it's true that Sands has no great VP, but they send room offers
that are almost free after almost no play (i.e. $10 coin in per year)
Currently $24 per night with $10 free play and $10 food Mo and Tu
when comedy club is dark; otherwise you get free admission to comedy club.
