iMac VP Software Question

What are you iMac users, using for video poker software ?

Optimum Video Poker is the only analyzer/trainer software available for the Mac as well as Windows. It is also the fastest analyzer available for any computer, and has the most bankroll considerations, including the jazbo/Sorokin risk of ruin calculation. Go to www.OptimumVideoPoker.com for details.

the windows demo file downloads and "unzips" just fine. but when i downloaded the demo versions of "optimum video poker" software for mac (both classic and OSX), i get a stuffit file that won't "unstuff" properly. what opens is an editable text file with code.

have others been able to download these files successfully?

i've been using macs for almost twenty years and have never encountered this sort of thing with a stuffit file. and while i can run windows on my mac, i'd prefer to demo/buy the mac version.

I also appreciated all the input (although I'd already done my own preliminary visit to an Apple Store on this very topic - 'cuz I'm also getting a MAC). However, I think an equally pertinent question would be - when can we anticipate MAC-compatible software becoming available for Ms. Scott's & Mr. Dancer's products? Or is it simply a matter of the percentage of v.p.-playing MAC users still being too small to make it a profitable venture?

There are no plans to bring out FVP for Mac. However, here is what a friend, who recently traded her PC for a Mac, wrote to me:

"We were told that you could use a program called "Crossover" to use Frugal Video Poker. The Apple representative at Best Buy did this to demonstrate it to us and it seemed to work perfectly. However, we used another solution. Apple now has the capability to run any DOS based products by using one of two programs: Parallels or VMware Fusion. We use VMware. This program allows your Mac to perform just like a Windows based PC. Therefore, you can use any of the programs that you were using on your old system. This is a great innovation for Apple as many people who can't do without their Windows programs can now use these on the Mac and yet, you have all of the power of the Mac also.

We continue to use our Windows based Quicken program so it is just the same as on our old computer. Apple does have a Quicken version but it is not nearly as good as the windows based program. Apple has a very good program for spreadsheets that is a good replacement for Excel and I have switched to their word processing program as it is as good or better than Word."
