I'm growing weary of losing

Jeeps said:

I know, the gang here will say this is normal loss. One must expect loss like these. I've been playing for years and this loss rate is new to me. Especially @ quarter play. In my opinion, this is a huge unlucky streak. Unprecidented loss, including the old days of $5 Double Joker 3 coin in AC, $1 Bonus progressives in Vegas and the ever favorite extinct $1 FPDW.

Just looking for some input?<<<

I can't really give you any input because I don't play at your level, but I do appreciate your honesty. Most all we hear at VPFREE are the big winnings that people have. Rarely is there any heartache exposed. I guess that is human nature to stay silent about the losses...I have never bought into the "long term play" theory on this board expressed by many. I play a lot of short coin which many people laugh at. I won't be hanging myself if I get a RF on short coin and I also won't ever be losing $22K..I do hope you luck turns around...

I can feel for you jeeps. I am on the longest losing streak ever in my years of playing and I personally am tired of seeing everyone hitting stuff and they are playing stupid things or they have no clue as to how to play. I am frustrated and I don't see many people talking about losing. I have not seen 4 aces in over 6 weeks and it does not matter what game I play. Not even on NSUD. (of course I am not seeing four 2's on that either). hang in there and maybe yours and my luck will suddenly turn around to the "greener side" of the pasture

Good point. Those who sell the books etc. don't want to mention the losing side. Many of the rest get on the bandwagon. However, I believe long term play does work. Every so often while in losing streak one gets doubts. I have had bad streaks and I question myself. I have asked my wife to actually sit by me and watch my play, wondering if some very bad habit creapt into my playing the game. Thus, once in a while I will practice JOB, FPDW, NSUD or Bonus before going to a jurisdiction where I might be playing these games.

About the only thing left for vp players is comps. If one is real selective on what to play, watch coupons, get a meal and a room once in a while, I think reasonable quarter play will do it. Of course, if your jurisdiction is Nevada, I guess disciplined players can seek out opertunities. I think it's hard work. For rec players we must keep in mind; DON"T SPEND THE RENT $$.

If I were you I would consider not plying short coin. If your playing one or two coins at a quarter, go down to ten cent and play full coin if possible. A dime royal is $400. That's if the dime play doesn't drop pay schedule. A royal at one coin is a good hit because all hits are good. If your playing 4 coins, I think I'd play the extra coin. However, the bottom line is having fun. When I first started playing Vegas IP was a motel. I think I had the most fun playing 5 cent 3 coin progressive mechanical slot machines in Caesars and Holiday Inn. It's all relative. In fact, sometime I think folks who play 5 cent have MORE FUN than those who play at $5 or $10 coin.

Thanks for the turn around wish. I believe good vibes from others help. I'll bet the experts might like that.

Thanks...Jeep

Depends how you define "long term play" and "work". For a fair deal 10/6 DDB with no mistakes, the N0 (one definition of long term) is 42/.001^2 = 42 million hands. Have you played that many hands yet? And even at that point you're still looking at about a 16% chance of losing. And the Kelly Bankroll required for such a game is about 42/.001 = 42,000 bets or $52,500 on five coin quarters. Do you have that kind of bankroll? And the Kelly Bankroll amount is aggressive, you're still exposing yourself to about 10% risk of ruin if you try to play till you're broke (which you shouldn't do with a proper Kelly strategy, under optimum Kelly strategy you should quit this game if your bankroll falls below $52,500).
