I'm back!

After taking a break for several years I'm back to hopefully scoop up
some of the Majestic largesse. In my 3 recent visits I'm a net winner,
but the experience has not been as much fun as in Majestic's glory
days back in '04.

Some observations:
1. What on earth possessed these people to jettison Don & Mike's Bar
in favor of a baccarat pit??
2. What happened to all the multistrike machines that were in Don &
Mike's? No, the full pays on the second floor were there when the back
of the bar had a full row of multistrikes. They went somewhere, but not
to the 2nd floor or MS2.
3. Cash back totally sucks. Not to mention that monthly coupons are a
thing of the past.
4. Attendance is way off from what it used to be in '04-'05.I'm sure
this is partly due to our economic woes, but Majestic certainly hasn't
helped on the video poker front as many machines have been downgraded.

It goes without saying I confined myself to full pay multistrike for
most of my visits. Last night the $.25 bar progressive actually became
attractive. Each of the jackpot hands was up by 50% for a good
stretch. DDB is shorted from 9-6 (98.98 - bad) to 9-5 (ugh), but with
50% increases on all three metered hands it actually becomes a 101.54%
game with 5 coins bet! I sat down for a couple of hours and managed to
walk away with a $300 profit after hitting 4 Aces with a deuce.
Shortly thereafter everything except the Royal progressive was reset
so I decided to move on figuring that this race was run.Although FP
DDB pays relatively poorly compared to other vp variants I've always
enjoyed playing it. With good progressive amounts this need not be a
concern. Howard tells me there's even a better progressive choice than
DDB. I think he mentioned DB which is 99.17 at FP. It certainly has a
better theoretical return, but that .19 advantage is not enough of an
incentive to ditch a game which I play nearly perfectly. At any rate
the bar progressive is something worth keeping an eye on.
