IGT Paytables

It's been my strong impression that casinos don't have the ability to
adjust the payouts on individual vp paylines. Instead, when I've had
the opportunity to observe the setup screens (mind you, multigame
only), the games were selected by type, i.e. Double Bonus, and
expected return, e.g. "99.1%" for a 9/7 paytable.

However, occasionally situations are reported that suggest that the
casino has erroneously adjusted a single payline (where the overall
paytable has such an improbably high ER that it seems unlikely this
could have been a pre-set paytable).

One widely (and reliably) reported example was at Borgata during its
first 3 days of operation. Joker Wild machines were installed with a
paytable that paralleled the standard 97% ER that is widely found in
AC, however the quad was set to pay 500 cr. rather than 80.

Simply as a matter of curiosity, does anyone reliably know how much
discretion casinos have in setting machine paytables? (Bill C.?)

Harry,

IGT Game Kings have no discretion, all paytables are predetermined.
However, I do understand that IGT will make a customized chip. Let me
ask a few people and I'll (hopefully) post a definitive answer soon.

Harry,

I'm still going to make some inquiries but also I realized that any
new paytables would have to be tested by gaming and approved. I'll
post whatever I find out.

This was correct. For a fee operators can get a custom program made.
