IGT and W2Gs

When you make a 5 coin bet on an IGT dollar 9/6 jacks and make a
royal flush, wowee!!! You're in the chips now, You just won
$4000!!! Well not actually. You see, you actually won just $3,995.
Your bet was returned plus the rest. Nevertheless you receive a W2G
stating that you hit a $4,000 jackpot.

When you make a 5 coin bet on a $5 demon 9/6 jacks and make a
straight flush, yippee!! You just won $1250. Well, not actually.
You won $1225. But the W2G you're gonna get will state that you hit
a $1250 jackpot.

When you make a 5 coin bet at $10 denom 9/6 jacks and hit a 4K,
yippee!!! You won $1250!!! Well, not actually. You won $1200
dollars. But the W2G will state that you hit a $1250 jackpot.

When you make a 5 coin bet on a $100 denom 9/6 jacks and make a three-
of-a-kind, well theres not so much yippee here if you can afford to
play this high. You got your $500 back plus another $1000. But the
W2G is going to state that you hit a $1500 jackpot. That's right, a
W2G for a lowly three-of-a-kind.

With all this TITO nowadays I keep waiting for a machine to mess up
and just rack up the credits when I hit something $1200 or higher but
it hasn't happened yet.

Now, in the case of the video blackjack found on some IGT multi-game
machines, I have never found one where one could bet more than twenty
dollars. A friend told me that he played $5 ten coin at Atlantis for
meal comp and spa and health club. But not long ago he told me they
cut it back to 4 coin.

In any case if you were to find one congigured for $5 denom one-
hundred coin bets and make a one-hundred coin bet and catch a
Blackjack without being pushed YIPPEE!!!! You just won $750 since
Blackjack pays 3 to 2!!! Alright!!! On to the next hand!!!

Well, not so fast. You see there is the little matter of the $500
you bet. The machine has to award you you're $500 bet back plus
$750. That totals to $1250. You are just gonna have to sit there
and wait on that W2G which will state that you hit a $1250 jackpot.
Maybe the machine next to you is open.

This happened to me a couple of years ago at Harrah's EC. I was playing a
quarter prog grinding out points for my wife's Diamond card and popped the
royal somwhere in the area of $1500. No "CALL ATTENDANT" notice or music.
It just kept on racking up the credits while I looked at it scratching my
head. I called an attendant over anyway paranoid that I'd put my win in
jeapardy if I tried to cash out and Indiana took there cut off the top. The
tech fixed it while they were doing the paperwork.

Not so much honest as fearful in this particular instance, Babe, and my "AP
Hustler" credentials are pretty weak. I prefer to just think of myself as a
tourist with skills.

I also saw this happen at a H casino a few months back, a lady next to
me hit a $1 RF and the machine just racked up the credits. She just
sat there stunned and wondering what to do. She ended up calling over
the slot people and they called a tech and gaming also came over. The
management was really sweating because they screwed up and I am sure
could have gotten in quite a bit of trouble. The tech just brought up
a screen with some settings and one was 'lock up machine at $xxxx' it
was set for $599, but it was also 'disabled' so it wouldnt lock up at
any value. Everyone makes a mistake once in a while.

Happy 'free' Royals
