ideal length of vegas trip (leaving teenagers at home)

What do you think is the ideal length of time for a Vegas trip to be worth the 220.00 airfare? I will be able to get away for 43 hours to Vegas or 67 hours. My teens are 19 and 15 and straight "A" students. Is 43 hours not worth the cost of the flight?

Do you mean that you are taking the kids, or are you planning to leave them at home? it makes a difference. if you are leaving them at home, they will be having a party no matter if they want to or not. Kids will show up. i am assuming you are going to take the kids with you, in which case 67 hours would be great, meals are not too expensive and there is plenty to do. Both of your kids are too young to go into the casino. Some casinos are more lenient that others on this but a casino is no place for a underage child. Some pool areas ask that parents be present when underage kids are at the pool. others do not, or at least do not seem to enforce that rule. $220 airfare seems reasonable...in any case, have a good time and good luck. 3 days for sure. Be sure to become a member of Las Vegas Advisor and get the coupon book. www.lasvegasadvisor.com If you're leaving soon have them hold it for you to pick up.

Have fun!

We raised three boys in the age group you mentioned and with similiar academics. We found that when spending two to three hundred round trip airfare for both of us, the best time to go was leaving Sunday afternoon (after church, of course) and returning Friday evening was best for us. The hotels had the lowest rates and we were back for the "party". So, for us it was a matter of how many days, not hours.

I assume you are talking about going there this summer when school is out. Vegas is hot as hell in the summer (109 yesterday and don't expect much of a cool down in the evenings) and you won't want to spend any more time outdoors than is absolutely necessary. It sounds like you've never been there before. There is so much you will probably want to see that you will be spending most of your time trying to cram it all in and that will necessitate being out in the heat and feeling like you need a vacation once you get home.

Thanks for your advice, but this will be our second trip this summer, but it will be a bit shorter than we typically travel to Vegas. We will play at Boyd casinos and Stations only and avoid the strip altogether. Usually we play 20 hours of VP per day except for eating and sleep 4 hours.
