I got comped at the Venetian at $5000 coin-in??? (Benvenuto status)

Over the summer, i got comped rooms at Casino Royal and Sam's town.
But on my last night, i rented a room at the Venetian because they
had a $99/night special, and i wanted to see what a 5 star hotel felt
like. (For the amount of time i stayed awake in that room, it wasn't
worth it.)

Anyway, i played the $0.50 9/6 JoB the night before and the day after
for a total of like 50-100 points. That's only ~$5000 coin-in. (BTW-i
see in the vpFREE database, the Venetian now has $1 JoB as the
minimum. or am i wrong and it was always $1?)

I got a flyer today that said i have Benvenuto status. I can use the
free 2 night stay repeatedly tll 5/10/04 as long as i maintain my
current level of play.

Anybody else get this offer?

I also stayed there one night and I have taken them up for their
free 3 nights for January 4-7. I also received an invite to a slot
tourney at the end of January and received the same offer you did. I
only played up to 127 points.
The difference between the offers is the first two don't have play
requirements and the Benvenuto on does. It states that you need to
maintain your current level of play in the fine print at the bottom
of the ad.I only played the 9/6 JOB but in dollars. I don't know
where the >50 machines are.

That's the critical thing to be aware at Venetian ... unless you're
going to maintain at least a $25K per day (and preferably $30K)
average there, it defintely puts you at a disadvantage to try and
"impress" them on your first, or subsequent, visits.

I think of their non-hosted player approach as a "salmon" strategy.
Hook 'em in at the level they play on their first visit and then get
them to gradually ramp up their play on subsequent visits through the
"current level" requirement - if a player intentionally (to keep good
luck running) or inadvertently bumps their play up on a trip, that
irreverably increases the "current level of play" hurdle for future
trips (effectively a "spawning fish ladder")

The trick there is to start with a $6K-$8K per night play average and
then be disciplined in keeping it modest.

By the way, play is tracked on the "Avg. Bet x Time Played" formula.
Ramp up your speed and you're simply going to have to play more hands
to meet your comittment. Also when we're there we check with player
services to make sure our play is sufficient before we quit - just to
make sure there are no surprises at checkout (time was when there were
more than a couple reports of unexpected charges for the room).

I'll qualify all this by saying that it's been about 2 years since our
last stay, but I expect the info is still timely.

btw, I'm pretty sure the $.50 jacks at V. are 8/5, unless there's been
a very recent addition.

A couple of statements I made concerning V. room offers did change
with the Benvenuto offers earlier this year (which has apparently been
extended to May 10, per a mailing received this morning).

The possibility of being charged for your stay, should your play not
meet the "current level of play" requirement, has been dropped.
Failure to play up to that simply prevents you from staying under the
offer again in the future.

It might still be advisable check your play before quitting to make
sure it's consistent with that hurdle.

I imagine it's still the case that if you play above that stated level
on a given trip, the bar is raised for all future trips.

I have only ever seen $1 and $5 FPJB there... I dare not look at
higher denominations;-) With the new tower the V may become more
forthcoming with their marketing offers. Wife and I, in one case
based on very little play, have both received offers for 3 weekday
comp nights for slow periods in December.
