I beg to differ!

I was the first poster of the two banks at the Orleans about one week after
they surfaced. I would NOT have posted an obscure 2% play but this one was
highlighted with signs by the property. I believe , also, that outing a good
play will become more infrequent. Hints on cashback, bounceback, taxes,
inventory updates, etc. will still be helpful but there are too many players are these
few opportunities.

In the "old days", people playing advantage games were working as you would a
full time job. It was paying the rent and their way of life. The advent of
the recreational "informed" player with "discretionary income" created a sub
group of players who were not in financial survival mode. Supply of good plays
went down and the demand went up.

I, too, will readily admit to this profile of "get while the getting is
good". I was first in line at the Silverton a few years back when they decided to
let us redeem any of our points for certificates to the Beltz mall. I didn't
know that they hadn't anticipated how many people would jump at the chance to
use their points for useful purchases at that mall. When the clerk asked me
how many certificates I wanted, my answer was as many as my points could buy.
I think I got around #30. Later I would learn that they only had bought
about #50 and I took 60% of their supply.

They later got more but then limited how many you could redeem at one time or
some other such restriction. Recently, this same scenario played out at
South Point in November-December where you got 2x your value if you bought gas
cards. There was a limit but many players exceeded that ; the late comers had no
more and the re-order could not accomodate everyone.

Of the Orleans recent play, I had to give the younger player of two (2)
machines his just due that he was there at very early times to secure his machines.
The recreational player is more apt to arrive at a more civilized hour and
be piqued that machines are not available. If this happens a few times, then
the player is apt to choose a locale where the play is readily available.

Signs of the time!
