I attended a Bob Dancer/ Fleas

The word fleas is used throughout the casino mgt. industry as a term for the
professional moochers that try to get as much as they can for as little as
they can give. (Gambling)
My former boss in Las Vegas at the 2 casinos I worded for used the term
frequently to describe people that would look for ANY advantage in the casino. Be
it trying to use expired coupons, claiming their machine shorted them a coin or
two, complaining about the buffet so as not to have to pay for it, etc.
It does NOT refer to the majority of players in this forum or in most
casinos.
I was not at the Expo so I can't say one way or the other if Mr. D said what
is alleged, but in my opinion even if he did it was in the context of an
'inside' comment.

I've heard the term "fleas" used previously also in a gaming
industry context.

For that matter, I've heard poker players use "nit". ("His play is
really nitty", meaning he plays very tightly).

The context you imagine it was used in is incorrect.

It came about in this basic manner:

The context was : Dancer explained a $1 full pay vp machine may
yield, for example, $30/hour to the minority of disciplined players
who can play perfect strategy.

This is not desirable. However, the same machine can be allowed to
remain at the 25 cent level.
It may yield $7.50/hour profit to those players with discipline and
the ability to play perfect strategy.
However, these are [laughing] "fleas".

As you can see, it was not referring to people who are "... trying
to use expired coupons, claiming their machine shorted them a coin or
two, complaining about the buffet so as not to have to pay for it,
etc."

It is referring to the majority of the members of this forum.
