I am not the devil......

After reading this I know you'll all think I'm the devil, but I
swear I'm not:
I've seen many posts and subjects lately dealing with "slot club"
points not being tallied and added to accounts correctly. I'm not
lucky enough to make it to a casino more than 2 or 3 times a year, so
I don't play for comps, I just play for the fun of gambling. I
thinking this form of entertainment has been lost on many frequent
gamers.
When casinos first started they wouldn't give you cab fare home if
you lost everything that night. Then Mr. Binion started offering
Drinks and Limo rides to and from the airport. Nowadays a casino
will basically GIVE you anything as long as you play enough; but if
something goes wrong and they aren't able to GIVE you something
everyone is up in arms. Gambling in fun because there's always that
hope of striking it rich, or beating the casino. If everyone lost,
no one would play; if everyone won, there would be no casinos....I'm
not trying to state the obvious.
I go into a casino hoping to come out ahead. I think it would
become a little less fun if I went to the casino not caring so much
whether I come out ahead as whether I can accumulate enough points
for a freebie. Now don't get me wrong....I like free stuff just like
everyone else, however I'd hope I wouldn't hold it against a casino
if they couldn't GIVE me something just because I frequented their
facility.
Comps sound great, and I hope to get one someday, but I'm not going
to stop gambling at a certain place just because I don't get one.

My two cents,
~Ian

Excellent point, Guilty as charged

This is exactly what the devil might claim;-) Congratulations on gambling
just for fun. I think fun probably is an important factor to most folks who
post here, but consider that slot club benefits can make a significant
difference in the bottom line of many vp players. At a local casino I
frequent I have collected almost of $1500 of BB and CB this year among other
things. Without this I would be a net loser at this casino this year. At
another major Strip casino I am a net loser this year to the tune of maybe
$2K, but I have collected several thousand dollars worth of CB and free crap
(that I value and would have needed to pay for anyway as a tourist)to offset
that loss. I am a consumer of the gambling product and I try to be as smart
a consumer when I gamble as when I choose the gas station that is a nickel
less per gallon than its neighbor station across the street. By being a
smart consumer I am able to play more, have more fun and give myself the
best shot at coming out a long term winner.

I agree with Chandler. And it's just as important for visitors as for locals. I don't really know of anyone who doesn't care if they win or lose, as long as they get their comps (suppose they are out there), but I do know lots of people who realize that whether one wins or loses on any one (or any three) trips, is mostly a matter of luck - even if you are playing the right games accurately.
On the other hand, the cashback and earned comps portion of your return IS the one part that is supposed to be "guaranteed". And it's real money, out of your pocket. It's not a gift, it's part of the game, and if a casino doesn't pay the points they are supposed to, they are cheating you. Not much fun.
