I Am Furious....Red!!!

Evidently, Wynn has either changed their free buffet rules
once again, or I was given incorrect information previously,
on three occasions, by members of the Red Card Club.

The first time that we played at the Wynn was in January, 2007.
On that day we earned four buffets. We used two lunch buffets
before leaving the casino.

Before departing Wynn, I spoke to a booth clerk AND a booth
supervisor and was told by both that the remaining two
buffets would remain in my account, and could be used at a later
date. They assured me that the buffets would NOT disappear until
and unless Wynn decided to cancel the "free buffet" promotion.

That proved to be the case. When I next returned to Wynn, in
July, 2008, those two buffets, earned in Jan., 2007, were still
in my account. They also came with a line pass. I activated and
used the buffets in July, during an overnight visit. During that
time I played enough to earn the equivilant of four more free
buffets, according to the requirements at the time.

Because I moved to another casino, early in the morning of the
2nd day, I did not have a chance to use any additional buffets
at that time.

Before leaving the Wynn, I checked once again with a red Card
Club staff member, and was assured that the four buffets would
be available for use in the future.

This morning, after calling the Red Card Club desk for verification
of whether a line pass was available with the buffets, which we
intended to use next week when we will be in LV, I was told that the
buffets, THAT I HAD EARNED, are no longer available!

Evidently, the new policy is that you must use the buffets the day
you earn them, or they are history! Of course, no notification of
this change in policy was ever given to me. I think that this is the
poorest kind of public relations and business practice, and intend
to send Steve Wynn letter of protest. I'll let you all know if I
receive a reply.

~Babe~

You think Wynn is going to care? He has people betting $25,000 per
hand at baccarat?

Perhaps Mr.Wynn will not care. I understand your cynicism, but don't
share it entirely.

I still hope that Steve Wynn retains the same astute business
precepts that built his empire. If so, he will realize that
there are very few $25K/per hand baccarat players, but there
are many thousands like me, who can choose to avoid his
casinos in droves.

I have had a past personal experience with Steve Wynn, going
back to the days when he still owned the Golden Nugget, and was
involved with getting the Mirage ready for it's grand opening.

At that time I was a very frequent guest at the GN, and had
earned the high "Chairman" designation in the GN club
called "Private Arrangement". The purpose of this club was to
reward frequent guests with free rooms, meals, promotions etc.
It was one of the first of the "pre-card club" entities in Las
Vegas.

Though I no longer remember the circumstances of the dispute, a
newly appointed manager of the PA Club and I had a difference of
opinion regarding some matter that was of importance to me. Since
the previous manager had agreed with my premise in a similiar
situation, I was surprised that the new manager did not.

After some polite discussion with the manager failed to produce the
desired response, I faxed a letter to Steve Wynn, at the Mirage,
where he was already in residence. I asked for his assistance in
resolving this matter favorably. W/I hours of my fax being sent, I
received a fax back from Mr. Wynn's office, which included a copy of
a fax he had sent to the PA club manager, directing her to honor my
request.

So, 20 years ago, in 1988, Steve Wynn did care about his little
players as well as his whales. I would hope, though he's a much
larger force in the gambling industry today, that he still retains
the same business practices as he did back then.

That was what was told us about 6 weeks ago, although we were able to "reserve" buffets for
the day following the one in which we earned it (with a line pass).

We were told that buffets could not be held in reserve from trip to trip.

Also, the booth person did mention as you said, that the free buffets would stay in your account until or unless they changed the promotion. Well, it appears that they changed the promotion. To be honest, I'd feel of embarrassed to write about some buffets that I no longer had in my account.

I wouldn't write Steve Wynn about something like this myself, I'd save that for something I considered extremely important, if I ever wrote him at all.

Good luck,

Babe,
That's a nice story. So maybe he will care. It'll be interesting to see what happens!

No, Valerie. What all three booth people told me was that the
buffets would remain in my account until and unless Wynn CANCELED
the free buffet promotion, not until they "changed" it. To my
knowledge, the buffet promotion has not been canceled.

I also believe that when this change was implemented that buffets
earned prior to that time should have been "grandfathered" and
continued to be subject to the prior rules.

At the very least, had the rules already changed prior to my play in
July, I should not have been given incorrect information, but rather
should have been advised that if I didn't use the buffets that day,
that they would disappear. I could have then made an informed
decision as to whether I wanted to have breakfast or brunch in the
buffet before leaving the hotel.

Those are the issues about which I will write Mr. Wynn.

It doesn't embarrass me in the slightest to write a letter of
complaint to the owner of a business when I feel that I have a
legimate issue to discuss. As a business owner myself, I would want
to hear about any circumstance that caused a former client to stop
patronizing my organization.

I wouldn't write Steve Wynn about something like this myself, I'd

save that for something I considered extremely important, if I ever
wrote him at all.
Good luck,
Valerie

I would never suggest that anyone do something that caused them
discomfort. So, if something like this should happen to you, most
probably you should not take it up with management.

As for me, I do consider it to be, if not extremely important, at
least important enough that I am willing to devote the time that it
will take me to write a letter to Steve Wynn.

Thanks for your good wishes.

A few months ago, someone had posted having the same problems. Earlier
this month I was able to redeem eight buffets on three different
occassions on days that were at least a couple weeks since the last
time I played. So I had assumed that the original poster had a run in
with an associate that was incorrectly informed, but with your
experience, I am starting to think that they might have changed their
policy after all. I estimate that I should have easily over 150
buffets stored up, so there is a possibility that the buffets they gave
me earlier this month were just discretionary comps, and not associated
with the promo. I would certainly be curious to hear what you find out
because I only use my buffets when I have guests and would find it
embarrassing to be turned down. Of course, their buffet is now
mediocre at best, so while I would hate the thought of losing 150
buffets out of principle, I certainly won't lose sleep over the food.

We learned tonight that Bob Millard, the pianist at the Rampart Round Bar, is being fired -- his last night is this Saturday. We liked his style of music -- lots of 40's jazz standards and other classy hits. Maybe he was too "old-timey" for some of the audience (which is mostly older folks anyway). I suggest anyone interested in keeping him contact Holly McFarland at the Rampart. Thanks!

was that the "supervisor", to whom I asked to speak, tried to

From my own experience in Jan.'07 and Jul.'08, I knew this to

Of course that is always a possibility, since you have obviously
played heavily at Wynn. But, assuming that you just went to the Red
Card Booth to activate the buffet comps on the day that you planned
to use them, and didn't ask a host for the buffet comps, it seems
unlikely.

If I so choose, I can purchase the buffets at Wynn. However, I do

I think that I'm not being treated fairly. Stay tuned.....

Babe........... Keep them honest. A deal is supposed to be a deal. One of the problems with modern business is not honoring your word. I remember the good old days of big buck contracts being initialed off on a napkin! It will be interesting to see Steve's response.

Babe, I had the same situation last time I was at Mr. Wynn's joint. I
was hungry and wanted to "activate" my previously earned buffets which
were supposed to "live in my account until I used them." None of
those folks in the red sportcoats could find them, and at one point I
had three of them staring at the little computer screen. A lot of "I
realize this must be frustrating for you, too, especially when the
rules keep changing and you have to explain things over and over to
people like me" on my part scored me two buffets that were not there
when I first asked. It's unlikely I was given a discretionary comp
based on my low level of play at Wynn.

Drew

I was told in June 2008, by a slot supervisor that buffets earned on a single day, had a life expectancy of 48 hrs.
I mentioned that I would be leaving early tomorrow - what about my free buffet I earned today? They said "use it , or lose it ". Ok, so we all know Wynn gives away ICE in the winter to AP's - 35 K coin in / Day for the $1 NSUD player gets you a buffet with some token freeplay, and a room for only $159 on weekends....Its not a bargain ! And they are not Stupid, switch your play to $2 9/5 DDB and you'll be treated significantly better for the same action.
I do think crying and whining to Upper Management will work on a one-time shot...try it and let us know.
