The sign I saw today at the Hard Rock LV slot club says that effective 9/1/11, it takes $2 coin-in to earn one point on video poker. And "Optimum" video poker takes $4 per point. Used to be $1 per point since last October.

Apparently they consider the 25c Spin Poker Deluxe with 8/5 BP to be "Optimum" since it was $4 per point. The single-line 50c and $1 machines with 8/5 BP down the steps from hotel registration were $2 per point. I played both these today.

If you're looking for 25c 8/5 BP multi-line, I believe these machines listed in vpFREE2 are the only ones remaining:

(2) 25c Spin Poker
(1) regular Mulit-Strike
(1) 5-play Multi-Strike
(2) Multi-Strike Super Times Pay

Thanks for correcting me. I appreciate the update.

Just came back from HRH and the point requirement is correct. They have a promo now that for every 300 points you get to spin the electronic wheel at the kiosk. Limit is 3 spins. I got a nouns spin as well. I ended up getting 2500 points a spin for a total of 10k. From talking to employees there I gather they made the point requirement higher on poker but will be having better promos. This one isn't bad, there's some big prizes on that wheel.

Most casino kiosk prize wheels are not random. Many are biased based on card level or recent play. Examples that come to mind are Coast Casinos and South Point. Did you notice what the minimum prize on the wheel is for this promotion?

Probably auto-correct for 'bonus spin'.

Unsure as to what the coin in per point rate is on the regular spin machine. I did however get my mailer. Went from $175 x 7 to $75 x 5 with exactly the same amount of play. This is consistent amongst two other players I know. Almost a 70% drop and now a 2x coin in requirement presumably to get this. Sorry, but they just fell off my radar. There's likely nothing that they can offer in promos that will make up for this recent one-two punch.

Going to enjoy our cruise compliments of them but they've seen the last of my play.

Yes YOU ARE CORRECT. The predetermined prize will show behind whichever glass you pick. If you play again you will always get the $10 prize. That is what you are probably "grouped for."

I figured it was "rigged" when I asked the booth people how many upper prizes there were. Not many. Certainly not 1 out of 5. Someone MAY get that top prize, but NOT by picking the right glass.
It has been predetermined and is probably someone who does not play much and it does not HAVE to be given out.

The cards you picked out of the barrel were more fair. At least then you know you had a shot at a decent prize, as there has to be at least ONE in there. Not so with the pick the glass promo.

should be an interesting cruise of all ex-hrh players...

Just wanted to let everyone know that the all you can eat special at Johnny Smalls at the HRH has changed. About half the menu now has AUCE surcharges for that particular item. The deal is still good, but just not nearly as good as before.

When I was there on Friday, Oct 21. They had the drawing for free play on their Ghoulish free play promo that was supposed to be only based on slots. However, I saw all the big VP players there, and they all WON. So I'm guessing they played machines with both slots and VP on them.

There is still the Multi-strike machine below the bell desk, which has 8/5 bonus.

I love the atmosphere, but I'm a non-local. When I do move to Vegas within a few years, I probably won't play there either.

I finally gave up on that place. The cutbacks and lower pay tables on many of their machines just isn't worth it anymore. Love the atmosphere but Id rather have a better selection of decent games. The hosts admit to marketing cutting free play by up to 75%, to supposedly be in line with other casinos, so why bother?

There is still the Multi-strike machine below the bell desk, which has 8/5
bonus.

I love the atmosphere, but I'm a non-local. When I do move to Vegas
within a few years, I probably won't play there either.

I finally gave up on that place. The cutbacks and lower pay tables
on many of their machines just isn't worth it anymore. Love the atmosphere
but Id rather have a better selection of decent games. The hosts admit to
marketing cutting free play by up to 75%, to supposedly be in line with
other casinos, so why bother?

Johnny Smalls at the HRH has changed. About half the menu now has AUCE
surcharges for that particular item. The deal is still good, but just not
nearly as good as before.
