Actually, we're heading to HR around Christmas and when making the
reservation online it says we will receive a coupon for the 6Pack at
checkin. It doesn't mention any limitation on use but who knows.

Maybe it has something to do with locals v. nonlocals. Or, as you
state, it may simply boil down to YMMV. Bottom line is that there is
still a possibility to pick one up. The $10 matchplay, free gift with
limited play, free play from extended play and free cards/shot glass
coupons are still on the sheet.
